measuring-for-shuttersWhen you shop around for interior shutters for your Toronto home, there are going to be many options. You’ll also be met with a number of decisions along the way that have nothing to do with the actual shutters you’ll end up with in your home.

Below are several things you may want to avoid (or at least look out for) when shopping for interior or exterior wood or vinyl shutters in Toronto.

Avoid the super low prices. You may see shutter prices that are significantly less than they are for other companies. Prices don’t necessarily reflect quality, but unless this is a special deal (for example, a once-a-year sale), then it usually does have a direct correlation to quality.

Watch out for companies that don’t provide samples of their products. This could very well be a sign of lower quality shutters.

Try to avoid companies that don’t offer reasonable phone support hours. Or if the phone support personnel can’t answer specific questions about their shutters (for example, they are subcontractors working from overseas and don’t have any direct experience with shutters), this could leave you extremely frustrated.

Look out for companies that don’t have an easy to navigate around website. If the website looks extremely old, is cluttered, has numerous advertisements all over it, and is simply hard to read and find your way around on, this is usually a sign of a company that is not focused on best business practices. If they aren’t focused on best business practices online, it may be the same for their brick-and-mortar store.

Stay away from any companies that use what is known as a “hang strip” that runs along the side of the shutter. This is designed to mount the shutter on the inside of a window opening, but it is also customarily reserved for cheap shutter units.

Stay away from companies that don’t require measurement for custom sized shutters.

These are just a few tips that should help you in choosing the right shutter company for your Toronto home.
